45 Keepers. 4 communities. 7 years. 1000's of Sunshine Coast stories. Help us create a permanent digital home for the Keeper Project.

Behind these numbers is an extraordinary archive of artist and community voices — photographs, video, recordings, artefacts, field notes and stories, capturing the magic of what happens when artists and communities come together, united by a passion for place.

For seven years, we've invited artists to spend three weeks living and working in a community they love.  In Coolum, Libby Derham painted 400 metres of watercolour along the boardwalk, while Shannon Sol Carroll rose at 3.33am each day to record the dawn chorus. In Nambour, Shaye Hardisty mended, Fiona Harding hugged and documented trees, and Ketakii Jewson-Brown connected over tears and tenderness. In Caloundra, Aimee Gray created a dog-a-logue and Timothy Birch turned a 5km run into the Happy Run Club. In Maroochydore, Keepers are still at work — paddling Cornmeal Creek playing saxophone, mapping the city's heart and turning lost and found into keepsakes.

45 Keepers. 45 ways of seeing a place. And every one left something behind. Every Keeper leaves a daily written log, and often much more — field notes, photographs, videos, recordings, objects, conversations, small discoveries. There are 600 logs and counting: a growing archive of 4 communities, 45 artists and 7 years of listening, making and sharing — a record of the Keeper community itself.

The Keepers are archaeologists of stories, digging deeper to uncover small moments and memories hiding in places people encounter every day.

To date, the Keeper has reached 250,000+ people.

These stories need a permanent home — free, accessible and built to last, to be discovered, shared and remembered.

We're raising $5,000 this AusArt Day to create a permanent digital home for the Keeper Library, and the first $5,000 raised will be matched dollar for dollar by Creative Australia, turning $5,000 into $10,000.

$30 becomes $60. $250 becomes $500. $1250 becomes $2500.

And every dollar is tax deductible.
 

Funds raised will go towards giving the Keeper collection a permanent digital home. That means professional digitisation of artworks, Keeper Logs and artefacts, a thoughtfully designed website built for genuine accessibility, and audio descriptions and captions so the collection can be experienced by as many people as possible.
